About Manufacturing Day
Long Island

Celebrated nationally on the first Friday in October by a division of the National Association of Manufacturers, MFG Day is manufacturing’s biggest annual opportunity to inspire the next generation, positively shift perceptions about our industry, and build the foundation for the manufacturing workforce of the future.

Long Island has such a robust, innovative, diverse manufacturing ecosystem that we extend the events and visits over a month and continue interest all year long.

Booth Exhibits

Our local manufacturers and organizations take booths in a career fair-style happening that can be a great way for high schools and technical colleges to inform their students about the many different pathways into careers in manufacturing. These opportunities also share information about our companies and organizations with a wider audience of students and parents..

Activities

Some of our manufacturers and organizations have organized interactive exhibits of our advanced technologies.

They range from VR (Visual Reality) control to Drones to one of the most Advanced Manufacturing Training Center.

Site Visits

Plant tours are the cornerstone of MFG Day and a most effective method for showcasing operations, generating positive enthusiasm and improving perceptions. Opening the doors and providing students, educators and the community a firsthand look at manufacturing processes, high-tech systems and equipment, work environment and company culture also allow attendees to visualize more easily how their own strengths and interests may align to careers in manufacturing.
